FAST-NU family members are cordially invited to attend a seminar on the missing persons case, “Do countries sell their own people? Civil liberties in the age of the War on Terror.”

We intend this to be an opportunity to calmly focus on one of the great tragedies of this “strange deadly war”, a chance to understand the systemic/structural weaknesses that have enabled our rulers to exercise absolute, arbitrary, un-restrained authority over us, the citizens of this country.

Since 2007, as different elements of society wage proxy wars on each other, one has repeatedly had the sensation of living in Beirut in 1982-3. We believe that if we are to have any chance of arresting this downward slide even at this late stage, we need to first understand the issues. Our participation in this effort stems from a belief in the supremacy of the rule of law and in the need to preserve our civil liberties from the whims of arbitrary rule.

Please do attend this seminar and bring your friends and family.

N.B.: Details of the venue (including a map with directions) and the speakers are provided in the link above.
